Dog Point Pinot Noir 2022 is a single-vineyard red wine from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. The wine presents a blend of red cherry, raspberry and plum on the nose, underscored by hints of spice. On the palate, it exhibits an elegant structure, with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity that support its fruit profile. As it opens up, savoury elements emerge, providing complexity. Dog Point Vineyard is known for its sustainable practices and is co-owned by winemakers James Healy and Wendy Stuckey, both previously head winemakers at Cloudy Bay. This Pinot Noir reflects the unique terroir of its site in the Wairau Valley.

The 2022 Pinot Noir leads with black cherry and star anise, strawberry top and a hint of pomegranate molasses. The wine is light and chalky, with attractive clarity in the glass and brilliant length through the finish. There is a dusting of cocoa and licorice at the edges of the aromas. It`s a beautiful wine, one that ages slowly and gracefully over the decades. The tannins here are grippy and yet pulverized in structure; they serve to cup and cradle the fruit, never intrude but forever guiding. About 30% whole clusters were used in the ferment. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. - Erin Larkin

The 2022 Pinot Noir feels indulgent with rich flavors, creamy textures and good length. This is well balanced with layers of ripe fruit and well-integrated festive spices. Black and red cherry, plum and dark chocolate develop on the finish. Rebecca Gibb29th July 2025

pH 3.67, TA 5.3 g/l, RS 5.6 g/l. 30% new oak.Pale garnet. Oak is still slightly in evidence. Pretty wine even if without a massive mid palate at this stage of its evolution. Not yet released. (JR)
