Crystallum The Agnes Chardonnay 2024 is a meticulously crafted wine, produced from a selection of different vineyards inland from Hermanus. The fruit is sourced primarily from cool-climate sites, where varied elevations contribute to balanced acidity. The grapes undergo barrel fermentation, emphasising the region`s terroir. Expect aromas of white peach and citrus, complemented by subtle oak and mineral undertones. The soil composition – including Bokkeveld shale – plays a crucial role in shaping the wine`s character. Founded by brothers Andrew and Peter-Allan Finlayson Crystallum is dedicated to showcasing Burgundy varieties through South Africa`s distinctive terroirs.

The 2024 The Agnes is whole bunch pressed and aged for ten months with no new oak. Slightly deeper in colour than other cuvées, it has a perfumed nose with yellow plum and light jasmine scents and a hint of orange pith in the background. The palate is well balanced with a lovely waxy texture. Quite Swartland in style, though it comes from Overberg, Hemel-en-Aarde and Ceres sourced fruit. Drink over the next 4-5 years.
