Paul Jaboulet Aîné Côte-Rôtie Les Jumelles 2005 is a full-bodied red wine produced from Syrah grapes in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Les Jumelles translates as `the twins` and refers to vineyards on the Côte Brune and Côte Blonde which make up this blend. While not as commonly seen or referenced as Jaboulet wines such as the iconic Hermitage La Chapelle, Les Jumelles is invariably a superb expression of Côte-Rôtie`s prime Syrah terroir. The 2005 was outstanding in this part of the Rhône Valley, producing full-flavoured and expressive Syrahs with outstanding ageing potential.

Deep red. Spicy red berries and cassis on the nose, with subtle cracked pepper and floral qualities expanding in the glass. Smoky dark fruit flavors are braced by youthful minerality and carry through a long, juicy finish. No hard edges here.Josh Raynolds1st January 2008
