The 2002 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns from Ghislaine Barthod is a beautifully refined and structured expression of this esteemed site. Barthod, renowned for her precise, terroir-driven winemaking, crafts wines of depth and elegance through low yields and careful élevage. The 2002 vintage brings balance and freshness, with a nose of red cherry, rose petals, and subtle spice. The palate is silky yet firm, with vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a long, mineral-driven finish. A classic Chambolle with remarkable ageing potential.
Vinous
- Full, bright red. Very ripe but withdrawn nose hints at roasted strawberry. Sweet and fat but less showy than the Chambolle villages , even a bit sullen today. Notes of smoke and earth. Ghislaine says this wine is just now regaining its vivacity after the bottling. Perhaps not a representative bottle. Judgment deferred.
