Bosman Optenhorst Chenin Blanc 2023 is a Chenin Blanc from the Wellington region of South Africa. This bottling is a single-vineyard expression sourced from the Optenhorst vineyard, which contains some of South Africa`s oldest Chenin Blanc vines, planted in 1952. The wine is fermented and matured in a combination of concrete eggs and older French oak barrels. It presents a complex bouquet of ripe pear, apricot and lemon curd, with a subtle nutty and earthy quality. The palate is rich and concentrated, with a firm acidity and a long, savoury finish.

The Bosman Family Vineyards 2023 Wellington Optenhorst Chenin Blanc comes from a very special site with exactly 3,255 vines planted in 1952. This expression delivers enhanced concentration from old-vine fruit that stops short of feeling sticky. The bouquet reveals a candied note of orange marmalade, and there are hints of honey and spicy saffron. This is certainly a bigger and bolder expression of the grape that is best consumed in the near or medium-term. The wine was fermented with natural yeasts in a concrete egg and Burgundian oak barrels.
