Introducing the Balvenie DCS Compendium 2001, the youngest release in the second chapter of this esteemed series. Aged for 15 years in a Pedro Ximénez sherry butt, it offers a unique profile characterised by a syrupy texture. The whisky presents toffee sweetness alongside ginger and wood spice notes. Balvenie distillery, one of the few remaining stills in Scotland that continues to use traditional methods, has a rich heritage dating back to 1892, underscoring its longstanding commitment to craftsmanship.

One of Speyside's most famous single malts, located in Dufftown and owned by William Grant and Sons. The distillery was founded in the late 1800s by William Grant, who worked at the Mortlach distillery nearby. Master Distiller David Stewart is credited with making Balvenie the powerhouse we know today.
David worked at Balvenie for many decades and introduced many innovations that are now widespread across the industry including 'cask finishes' where whiskies are aged for a period in ex-Bourbon wood before being finished for a relative short period in a more active barrel.
