St Joseph Rouge Domaine du Tunnel 2018

Domaine du Tunnel was established in 1994 by Stéphane Robert and the wines he produces from his 10 hectares of vines are some of the highest quality and most exciting in the Northern Rhône. He produces his Saint-Joseph from 100% Syrah sourced from vineyards in the communes of Tournon sur Rhône, Mauves and Glun, with vines that are on average 50 years of age. From the highly acclaimed 2018 vintage this is yet another exceptional release. It cascades from the glass with sumptuous notes of rich black fruits, raspberry, dried violet flowers and peppery spice. On the palate it is massively concentrated and voluminous, with firm but ripe tannins, pinpoint acidity and an incredibly long, spice-infused finish. Perhaps a little young just yet, this will be at its best after around 5 years.
