Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Covering just a single hectare of stony clay-limestone soil in the heart of Vosne-Romanée, just above the Grand Cru of Richebourg, Cros Parantoux is one of the most revered climats in the hallowed Vosne-Romanée appellation. Famously, this site was essentially created by the legendary late vigneron Henri Jayer, who used dynamite to break up its rocky ground and then planted it with Pinot Noir vines. The vineyard is now under the control of just two owners: Emmanuel Rouget (Jayer’s successor) and Domaine Méo-Camuzet.

The Pinot Noirs of Cros Parantoux are deemed by some Burgundy enthusiasts to be worthy of Grand Cru status. Older vintages, particularly those produced by Henri Jayer before his death in 2001, attract huge interest from collectors and investors.
