Bollinger RD Magnum 2008

Bollinger RD 2008 is a vintage prestige Champagne produced by the house of Bollinger in Épernay. Located in the village of Aÿ, Bollinger is synonymous with sophistication and quality in the world of Champagne and was awarded the Royal Warrant as Official Purveyor of Champagne to Queen Victoria in 1884. RD stands for `recently disgorged` and indicates the house`s stylistic preference for keeping this style of Champagne on lees for an extended period, then releasing the wine immediately after disgorgement. This is to emphasise the freshness and vitality of such extra-aged Champagne. The 2008 is an assemblage of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay from 18 cru vineyards, mostly in Aÿ and Verzenay for Pinot Noir, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for Chardonnay. Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels.
