Mosel Wine

The Mosel (or Moselle in French) is one of Germany's most important wine regions. The steep vineyards that line the banks of the river are meticulously tended by hundreds of growers, many managing tiny plots of some of the world's greatest Riesling vines. The white wines range from bone dry, zesty and refreshing to ultra-sweet and infinitely complex and all quality wines regardless of sweetness will reward cellaring. Red wines are rare, but quality is often high with elegant Pinot Noirs dominating.

Following a long period of dominance and international acclaim, established names like Dr Loosen, J J Prum, Egon Muller and Maximin Grunhauser are suddenly finding themselves competing with a new wave of young German winemakers who are combining the very best of tradition and innovation and making waves locally and abroad.
