Italian White Wines

Italy's white wines, though often overshadowed by the country's reds, are just as diverse and interesting in their own right and deserve equal consideration. Like Italian red wines, the whites of Italy are often from native grape varieties, as well as international varieties (mostly French) in a wide range of different styles. From the crisp, high acid Gavi made from the Cortese grape to the rich Chardonnay of an Umbrian Chardonnay, to the aromatic, floral notes of a Pinot Grigio from Friuli, there's far more diversity in Italian white wine than most people expect. And with that characteristic Italian acidity, no matter the grape, region or winemaking style, whatever wine you choose you're pretty much guaranteed a food-friendly companion!
