Hawke's Bay

Situated on New Zealand’s North Island, close to the cities of Hastings and Napier, Hawke’s Bay is the oldest wine region in New Zealand. Characterised by its moderate maritime climate, this New World region is often compared to Bordeaux, both sharing similar climatic conditions and alluvial, gravel soils. Key sub-regions include Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa, whilst dominant varieties tend to be Bordeaux grape varieties and blends: Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec for reds and Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris for whites.
