Douro Wines

Portugal’s best-known region follows the course of the Douro River from the Spanish border to 100km inland from the city of Porto. With its warm, continental climate, the Douro offers an exciting range of both fortified and still wines. Here at Hedonism these are sold in a glorious array of formats, from half bottle to 1800cl. Both red and white Douro wines tend to be blends of key local varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca and Tinta Cão for reds and Viosinho, Rabigato, Gouveio and Moscatel Galego Branco, Códega, (amongst others) for white wines.

With its high alcohol and residual sugar, Port is a historically renowned fortified wine, accounting for over 60 percent of the region’s total production. Here at Hedonism, discover the exciting range of styles available, from Ruby, Tawny and White to Late Bottled Vintage and Vintage styles (with vintages dating back as far as 1896). Our stellar line of up of the key names in the industry is truly eye watering, from Croft to Kopke, Taylor’s to Quinta do Noval. The Douro’s still wines are a real treat too, with red blends stealing the show from the likes of Quinta do Crasto, Niepoort and Casa Ferreirinha. Saúde!
