Basilicata

This southern Italian region lies between Campania and Puglia and benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate, moderated by the cooling influence of altitude - being the most mountainous region in the south of Italy. The region’s flagship variety is Aglianico, which is used to produce wonderfully structured red wines, most notably in the Vulture DOC. Powerful wines, with concentrated red and black fruit character, high acidity, alcohol and tannins, these full bodied reds from the likes of producer Re Manfredi are not to be missed.
