Alto Adige Wines

Situated in the foothills of the Alps, near the town of Bolzano, this is the most northerly region in Italy. With its mild, Alpine climate, the influence of altitude and the protection offered by the mountains to the North, this is an exciting region for wine production. Vineyards are planted on terraces on the valley sides of the River Adige. Key varieties here are Pinot Bianco and Pinot Noir, in addition to Chardonnay, Lagrein and wonderful white blends.

From the stellar South Tyrolean cooperative Cantina Terlano, which produces some of Italy’s finest and longest-lived white wines, to Franz Haas’ fresh and lively Pinot Nero, in addition to spectacular Grappa produced from the aromatic Traminer variety, the Alto Adige promises to delight and surprise.
