Laurent Tribut
Complexity and Tradition
The small, family-run domaine of Laurent Tribut is based in the Chablis village of Poinchy. Tribut is the son-in-law of Vincent Dauvissat and began making his wines in the Dauvissat’s cellar before starting his own domaine. He has now passed winemaking duties on to his daughter, Solange.
The domaine consists of 6ha of vineyards including holdings in the Premiers Crus of Beauroy, Côte de Lechet and Montmains, as well as several village-level parcels. Low yields in the vineyards and patient work in the cellar, with wines fermented in steel and matured in neutral French oak barrels, produce classic, long-lived Chablis wines with more than a passing resemblance to the master himself, Monsieur Dauvissat. The Premier Cru wines may require four to five years of ageing before they are ready to drink, while even the village-level wines will benefit from two to three years in bottle before they are broached.
