In 1955 it was rated as Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the official classification of Saint-Émilion wines, a status the Château managed to retain in 2022. This release is the 2005 vintage of its flagship wine, a blend of 53% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The days were warmer than average in 2005 but the nights far cooler, allowing the grapes to mature slowly.
