The vineyards sit on a gravelly clay soil and are planted predominantly to Merlot, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. In 1972, the 7-hectare estate was acquired by Emile Castéja, who also owns Château Batailley and Château Trotte Vieille. The 2019 vintage – a blend of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc – is the latest release from the château. It is a rich and concentrated wine, boasting notes of liquorice, truffles, plum liqueur and hints of violets.
