Initially, she crafted her early vintages from vineyards near the base of the Howell Mountains in Napa Valley. Later, she acquired land on Tychson Hill and enlisted the renowned viticulturist David Abreu to oversee vineyard planting. The Cariad Red Wine is the result of a blend of grapes from three vineyards, typically featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The 2005 a result of a cooler vintage shows notes of sweet black cherries and blueberry and raspberry with hints of black olive and Provençale herbs. The finish is balanced by gravely acidity and soft layered tannins.
