This historic domaine was founded in 1809 by Auguste Moreau but it wasn`t until 1977 that its reputation was cemented under the leadership of Bernard Moreau (who, improbably, assumed that role at the tender age of 14). Bernard`s sons, Alex and Benoît, came onboard in the 1990s, and Alex is now in charge of winemaking and vineyard operations. Guided by organic farming in the vineyard and low-intervention principles in the cellar, Alex crafts Chardonnays of real distinction. Typically, the domaine`s wines are aged in French oak barrels (10%-50% new) for 12 to 20 months depending on the vineyard and vintage. \"Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Moreau`s 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Grandes Ruchottes has a more floral and expressive bouquet than Marc Morey`s En Virondot, offering scents of yellow flower, linden, honeysuckle and just a faint whiff of crème brûlée. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, gentle at first but gaining momentum in the mouth. I love the strand of acidity interwoven into this Chassagne-Montrachet and the detail displayed on the finish. This is an impressive showing from winemaker Alex Moreau, but aren`t we all getting used to that now?\" Neal Martin, 2017","brand":"Bernard Moreau","offers":[{"title":"Duty Paid","offer_id":62412558532938,"sku":"HED97861","price":350.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0998\/7696\/2634\/files\/HED97861.jpg?v=1781892357","url":"https:\/\/hedonism.co.uk\/products\/chassagne-montrachet-grandes-ruchottes-bernard-moreau-2014","provider":"Hedonism Wines","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
