{"product_id":"batailley-1982","title":"Batailley 1982","description":"Château Batailley 1982 is a mature-vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux. One of the oldest wine producers in the Médoc, Château Batailley is currently owned by Borie-Manoux, the négociant firm led by Denise and Emile Castèja. The estate sits on a plateau next to Mouton-Rothschild and covers approximately 57 hectares of vineyard on deep gravel over clay and limestone subsoil. \"Tasted at the Batailley vertical tasting at the château, the 1982 Batailley continues to perform well despite never really being the \"go-to\" Pauillac in this vintage. This might be the best of a dozen or so bottles that I have tasted over the years. The nose here is the most intense that I have encountered, with pencil shavings infusing the black fruit and cedar and a savoury touch that becomes more pronounced as it opens. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, a classic Bordeaux here with good structure and a bullish, tobacco-tinged finish that is conservative but does the job. It cuts away a little too swiftly, but there is just enough dryness to keep you returning for another sip. I can see this continuing on its plateau over the next 15-20 years; and, while it will never challenge the likes of Latour or Pichon-Lalande, it will satisfy a great number of wine lovers.\" Neal Martin, 2016","brand":"Chateau Batailley","offers":[{"title":"Duty Paid","offer_id":62411969691978,"sku":"HED69875","price":175.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0998\/7696\/2634\/files\/HED69875.jpg?v=1781890652","url":"https:\/\/hedonism.co.uk\/products\/batailley-1982","provider":"Hedonism Wines","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
