A protégé of the great Giuseppe Quintarelli, Romano is renowned for his scrupulously hardworking commitment to his craft, both in the vineyard and the cellar. \"This part of Italy suffered from the same poor weather as much of Europe in 1997, experiencing hailstorms in July. Despite this, it produced some excellent wines. This example is dark-fruited, with very fine grip and incisive acidity. Aromatic plum and raspberry edging helps to lift this monolith, which is textural to the core and simply absorbs the 17.5% alcohol like a sponge.
