Zahel is a family-owned, biodynamic winery situated within city limits of Vienna, with approximately 33 hectares under vine. The boutique estate is currently led by Alex Zahel, who took over from his uncle in 2005. ‘Gemischte Satz’ is a field blend that contains at least three different white grape varieties, all from the same vineyard. They were not only planted side by side but also harvested and fermented together. Started with the 2018 vintage, ‘An Amphora’ is a limited wine range, each spontaneously fermented in a handcrafted 320-litre clay amphora. The wines are produced with minimal intervention, and they boast the longest skin contact in the Zahel portfolio.
