Château d’Yquem is a Premier Cru Supérieur Classé property in Sauternes, Bordeaux, and is widely regarded as the greatest producer of sweet wine in the region, perhaps even the world. It is a blend of botrytised Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc that is painstakingly hand-harvested, berry by berry, and is matured for 42 months in new French oak. The 1999 is just emerging into its prime drinking window, offering delicious notes of peach, citrus, stem ginger, griddle nuts, honey and subtly toasty oak.
