Vin Santo Borgo Scorpeto Berardenga Half 2000

Borgo Scopeto is an old and well-established producer in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Though most celebrated for their Sangiovese-based red wines they do also produce a small amount of Vin Santo. The method of production is very traditional, with Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia grapes being dried on racks for three months prior to fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques. The resulting wine is rich, viscous and intense, with delicious notes of fig, prune, sultana, candied citrus and spices. Best served chilled alongside pastries, blue cheeses or even fois gras.
