Urtaran Txakoli Goianea 2018

Bodegas Bat Gara was founded in 2012 by a priest, a restauranteur and a rancher. One of seven wineries in the tiny 95-hectare appellation of Arabaka Txakolina, just south of Bilbao. `Urtaran` is a blend of the local variety, Hondarrubi Zuri, with a splash of 5% Riesling. Fermented with indigenous yeast in chestnut barrels and French oak, followed by 8 months maturation on lees. The 2018 vintage offers up elegant aromas of hay, nuts, pear, with subtle touches of vanilla and gorse flower. Beautifully full and balanced on the palate, with pear, peach and toasted notes. Concluding on a long, fresh finish.
