Tyrell’s is one of the Hunter Valley’s most revered wineries and the Vat 1 is widely considered to be Australia’s best Semillon. First made in 1963, it is only ever made using fruit from their best old-vine vineyards (some of which were planted in 1923) and has garnered a reputation for remarkable consistency and almost limitless ageing capacity.
The 2008 vintage in the Hunter Valley was complex and presented many challenges. Nonetheless, this is another highly successful release of Vat 1 that could well still many years off hitting its peak.
