Purchased in 1986, Fay vineyard soils are in separate parts rocky, volcanic and alluvial, producing perfumed, voluptuous fruit with elegant tannins. The 1996 vintage is a blend of 99.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot. Riper berries, cassis and crushed violets on the nose accompanied by black cherry and French oak character on the nose. The perfect accompaniment for a grilled rib-eye steak.
