Founded in 1972 in the famed Stags Leap District of the Napa Valley, Shafer Vineyards has for several decades been at the forefront of exceptional Californian wine production. Hillside Select is produced from a collection of 14 rugged vineyard blocks planted on an amphitheatre-shaped piece of land that surrounds the winery. It is their flagship wine and is consistently one of the finest 100% Cabernet Sauvignons in the region. The 1990 is a beautifully mature wine exhibiting delicious layers of blackcurrant, dried cherry, cedar, tobacco and woody spices.
