Schistes Arretxea 2017

Domaine Arretxea was created in 1989 and lies in the heart of the Basque country, in the small AOC of Irouléguy. They now own 8 hectares of organically cultivated vines planted mostly to native grape varieties and have also introduced biodynamic practices. Schistes is a blend of 60% Gros Manseng, 35% Petit Manseng and 5% Petit Courbu from schist and sandstone soils. It is bright, aromatic and complex, with notes of exotic fruits, preserved citrus and spices. Though beautifully laden with rich, ripe fruits, it has huge minerality and a distinctive salty tang, which make this an ideal pairing for almost all seafood and fish dishes.
