Domaine Guiberteau is one of the leading producers in the Loire Valley, making profoundly complex and ageworthy wines from the sublime hillside terroir of Brézé, in Saumur. Though the estate dates back to the 1900s, Romain did not assume control until 1996. However, in just a few years, and guided by the likes of Clos Rougeard’s Nady Foucault, he has elevated this 9.4-hectare domaine to the highest echelons of the region.
Les Moulins Saumur Rouge is 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from smalls parcels between 7 and 80 years of age in the communes of Montreuil-Bellay and Brézé. With élevage in stainless steel, this is a bright, fresh and crunchy red ideal for early drinking, though there is plenty of complexity and depth lurking beneath.
