Clos Rougeard are widely considered amongst the world’s greatest producers of Cabernet Franc. Their wines are produced as naturally as possible with no herbicides or pesticides, no fining or filtration, and minimal sulphur and are typically full of substance with ripe flavours, beautiful balance and typically brisk Loire Valley acidity. From the superb 2009 vintage, this is laden with tart blackberry, tobacco, peat smoke, black tea and chalky mineral notes. Bright and vivacious on the palate, this is a beautifully aromatic, but deeply intense, wine perfect for drinking now.
