Satrapezo Mtsvane 2018

This is a wonderful dry white wine made from 100% Mtsvane from the famed Kakheti wine region. The grapes were hand-harvested, meticulously sorted and fermented with the skins in subterranean clay pots, called ‘kvevri’. Following 5 months maceration underground the wine was then transferred to small oak barriques for further maturation. Deep gold in colour, it offers up delicious scents of citrus, quince, apple, wild herbs and spices. On the palate it is textural yet refined, with zesty acidity and cool minerality throughout. An excellent food wine, this pairs brilliantly with classic Georgian dishes such as ‘badrijani nigvzit’ (aubergine rolls with walnut stuffing).
