A blend of Sangiovese with a small percent of Merlot. Aged for 18 months in barriques followed by 6 months further aging in bottle, resulting in a red wine that showcases a truly rare softness and depth of tannins. The 1997 vintage was characterised by an uncommon summer of frequent rains followed by a long succession of beautiful days with high temperatures from late August throughout October that made for optimal ripening of the Sangiovese grapes.
