David Ramey is one of the finest and most respected winemakers in California. This is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon with 14% Petit Verdot from a small vineyard on the lower slopes of the eastern Oakville hills. The 2008 is a sensational release with abundant richness of dark fruits, distinctive graphite-infused mineral nuances and excellent vivacity throughout. Textural, complex and with superb mid-palate intensity, this should be nearing its optimum drinking window but could well last a few more years yet.
