The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru felt much more closed when I tasted it at the Domaine, introverted with dewy meadow scents. The palate is well-balanced, but it doesn`t quite convey the mineralité and tension of its fellow Premier Crus at the moment. Does it have more to give? I remain cautious for now. - Neil Martin
Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 2022 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Champ Canet in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Etienne Sauzet is a biodynamic wine producer located in the village of Puligny-Montrachet. Founded in the first half of the 20th century by Etienne Sauzet, the estate is today managed by Emilie Boudot and Benoit Riffaul. This release is their 2022 Champ Canet, a patchwork premier cru vineyard in the northern sector of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. "This comes from a mix of vines between 36 to 65 years old. The wine is graciously giving with ample weight and extract yet balanced by green apple-like acidity. There is lots of peps and crunchy enjoyment here with an elegant leesiness and dried white flower intrigue, too." Tim Atkin MW, 2024
