Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 2009

Clos des Goisses is the pinnacle of Philipponnat and is distinctively full-bodied and powerful. The 2009 release is composed of around 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay partially vinified in oak barrels, aged on lees for 8 years and was bottled extra brut with 4.25g/L dosage. Bright gold with a fine mousse, the nose is expressive and complex, laden with aromas of cherry, peach, citrus rind, pastry and white pepper. On the palate it is remarkably intense, with a deep core of mineral-tinged citrus fruit and driving to an incredibly long, lingering finish. It would be advisable to wait a little longer before consuming but this should handsomely reward those with patience.
