The 1979 vintage marked the first release of Opus One, a joint venture between pioneering Californian winemaker Robert Mondavi and the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 2012 is a brilliant release redolent of sumptuous dark fruits, forest floor, dried flowers and graphite minerality. It is refined and regal on the palate, with ample complexity, structure and acidity to ensure remarkable longevity.
