Niepoort Garrafeira 1987

‘Garrafeira’ is a rare and distinctive style of Port that falls somewhere between Vintage Port and Tawny Port in terms of aging and profile. The 1987 Garrafeira started its aging process in wooden casks and was later transferred to large glass demijohns, also known as ‘garrafeiras’. This process allows the wine to age in a reductive environment while still developing some oxidative characteristics. This combination of aging methods results in a complex and elegant expression of Port wine. Expect a full-bodied and velvety texture, with flavours of figs, raisins and nuts, complemented by a long finish.
