Weingut Moric is one of Austria’s finest wineries and is perhaps the greatest producer of Blaufränkisch in the country. From the superb 2015 vintage, this is a concentrated and plush yet beautifully pure and elegant wine. It is laden with dark berry fruits and spices, with deep savoury complexity. Firm but silky in tannin, it is superbly balanced on the palate, with exemplary finesse throughout and an exceptionally long, mineral-infused finish. Perhaps a little off the beaten track, but certainly worth trying.
