Robert Mondavi is recognised by many as one of the most important figures in American wine having founded his namesake winery in 1966 with the aim of creating world-class Napa Valley wines. He selected the To Kalon Vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley as the home for Robert Mondavi Winery and this hallowed first-growth-equivalent vineyard, located in Oakville, is known for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world. The 1993 is an excellent release now at full maturity with notes of cassis, cedar, vanilla, liquorice and tar.
