Michel Gahier is certainly amongst the finest producers in the Jura region, making wonderfully expressive and traditionally made wines from 6 hectares of meticulously tended vines planted to the favoured local varieties. This is a unique wine made from a mutant grape variety called Melon le Queue Rouge sourced from a single vineyard called La Fauquette. It is made in the ‘sous voile’ style meaning the barrels in which the wine ages are not topped up, allowing a thin veil of yeast to form on the surface of the wine and thus gives a distinctive nutty, umami aroma and flavour profile. This is a wonderfully fresh, crystalline and pure white wine, that pairs exceptionally well with the regions famous cheeses such as the famous aged Comté.
