L`If 2011

L`If 2011 is a mature-vintage Merlot-based red wine from the St-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux. An assemblage of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this 2011 is the first vintage Certan ever produced of L`If, the St-Emilion project of renowned winemaker (and proprietor of Le Pin in Pomerol) Jacques Thienpont. "After using 100% new oak in 2010 - a "mistake", according to Jacques Thienpont - the 2011 from his new St Emilion property is much less marked by barrels, with only 30%. It`s youthful and quite tannic from barrel, with more alcohol and rusticity than Le Pin, but has good freshness and persistence. One to watch. 8+ years." Tim Atkin MW, 2012
