The 2020 Les Perrières has quite an intense bouquet with blackberry, Dorset plum, warm gravel and light graphite scents that unfurls in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a hint of pencil lead on the entry, taut and quite precise tannins here, fine tension, just the right amount of salinity and bitterness surfacing towards the finish that retains somewhat a strong estuarine element. Very fine. - Neil Martin
Owned by the Guinaudeau family, Château Lafleur is a tiny 4.5-hectare Pomerol property situated opposite Pétrus. The estate is known for producing some of the most sought-after and highly rated wines in the region. ‘Les Perrières de Lafleur’ is a relatively recent addition to their portfolio, with the first vintage released in 2014. It is sourced from a specific plot of vines in the Pomerol appellation, planted on a mix of clay and gravel soils. The wine is typically more approachable in its youth compared to Château Lafleur but still displays the concentration, elegance and complexity that the estate is known for.
