Lanzaga La Estrada 2016

Bodega Lanzaga is the Rioja-based project of acclaimed winemaker, Telmo Rodriguez. Founded in 1998, the estate now covers 15 hectares of scrupulously sourced vineyards of distinctive character and quality around the town of Lanciego. La Estrada is a tiny 0.64-hectare vineyard planted with traditional bush vines of mostly Tempranillo and Graciano that date back to the 1940s. The 2016 is a superb release of sublime purity and finesse, offering up beautiful scents of red berries, wild herbs and dried flowers. On the palate it is dense yet elegant with a deep core of dark fruits atop savoury bass notes of spice and tar. An incredibly expressive, modern interpretation of Rioja.
