La Vigne Haute Mas Coutelou 2018

Mas Coutelou is a family owned and operated estate in Pulmiers, just a few kilometres from Beziers on the Mediterranean coast. The farm was established in 1972 by Jean François Coutelou and has 13 hectares of organically certified vineyards planted to Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. La Vigne Haute is produced from 100% Syrah from Coutelou’s oldest and highest elevation plots and is entirely unoaked to preserve the natural expressiveness and freshness of the fruit. It is heady with spice and pretty with floral perfume, with a deep core of plummy black fruit rumbling beneath. A wonderfully food friendly wine, this would be excellent served with peppery pork sausages.
