Illustrious Pessac-Léognan estate, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, is widely considered to have produced one of the finest wines of Bordeaux from the 1978 vintage. Now approaching peak maturity, it offers up delicious notes of plum, cassis, truffle, cedar, tobacco and earth. Structurally this is in no danger of falling off a cliff, but its flavours are in such wonderful harmony it is perhaps drunk relatively soon.
