La Forge is the flagship wine from Gérard Bertrand’s estate in Corbières, Château de Villemajou. It is made from century-old Carignan and younger vine Syrah from the esteemed cru of Boutenac, undergoing élevage in barriques for 12 months. The 2015 is an exceptionally strong release, with huge waves of wild strawberry, Mediterranean herbs, liquorice and clove perfume on the nose. On the palate it is full-bodied yet beautifully silky, with admirable freshness, subtle savoury nuances of cocoa and graphite, and a long, lingering finish.
