Jean Louis Chave is undoubtedly one of the greatest producers of Hermitage Rouge. As one of the largest landowners in the Hermitage appellation Chave has vines spread across 9 of the finest lieux-dits, with the Rouge being made from 100% Syrah sourced from vines ranging between 50 and 85+ years of age. The 2012 is a generous and opulent release with intense black fruits, beautiful floral perfume and deep mineral complexity. Though an excellent early-drinking prospect, it is typically refined and elegant, with no shortage of character and charm.
