Hermitage La Chapelle Jaboulet Magnum 2016

Hermitage La Chapelle from Paul Jabout Ainé is arguably one of the most iconic wines in the world. They are one of the largest landowners on the famous hill of Hermitage and this wine is produced from a selection of the finest parcels of Syrah from the Les Bessards, Le Meal, Greffieux and Rocoules lieux-dits. Typically this is a wine that requires extending cellaring before consumption and will happily live for 30-40 years or more. The 2016 is full-bodied but stunningly velvety in texture, with lashings of rich dark fruits and immense savoury depth. For such a young wine it is startling good to drink but this easily has the capacity for several decades of evolution.
